Sunday Worship

You will experience a traditional worship service at both churches.  You will be welcomed by one of our friendly greeters who will offer you a program, which is commonly called a “church bulletin.”  The church bulletin will guide you through the service, including the Call to Worship, *when to stand, hymn numbers and the order of events.

A typical worship service will usually include time for people to greet each other, a opening greeting and call to worship, hymns, special music, silent prayer and meditation, a children’s message (Young Disciples Time), church announcements, opportunity to share joys and concerns, an offering, the Lord’s Prayer, pastoral prayer, scripture readings, the sermon, and a closing prayer.

CommunionHoly Communion
is usually served the first Sunday of each month. The table of Holy Communion is Christ’s table, not the table of The United Methodist Church or of the local congregation. Communion is open to anyone who seeks to respond to Christ’s love and to lead a new life of peace and love. All are invited to celebrate communion, but you can choose whether or not you wish to participate. (Source: UMC.org, the official online ministry of The United Methodist Church)  We use bread and grape juice for communion elements at Dansville and Sparta Center United Methodist Churches.  Gluten free bread is offered for those with special dietary needs.

The sacrament of Holy Communion is available for men and women who are home bound or living in nursing homes.  Please contact our church office to request a personal sacrament of Holy Communion for yourself or a loved one.
